Why iPhones stand out even though Andriod smartphones have got it all?

Android VS iOS has always been a hot topic and this topic is hot even today. With more and more Android devices in the market, we expect Android to take over the market but surprisingly, this is not what is going out there! Apple's iPhone is still the top smartphone seller despite having stronger rivals and competitors. So, what could be the reason behind this fact? Let's find out!

First of all, people have habit of following trend. If I have something good, you go around looking for it. People don't care what other things come between better or worse. Let's say you find a Samsung Galaxy SIII in between but people still would want an iPhone.

Also, people go for brand while selecting a smartphone."Brand" is one of those word which literally buy people. People don't care if that particular branded item has features or not. People go around looking for them and same goes with the iPhone. Ok, I admit it that iPhone is expensive but that doesn't basically mean that it is the best smartphone here in the planet. Look for the feature that best suits you in a smartphone rather than its brand (iPhone).

iPhone before 5 year was pretty awesome with all its features and relatively no competitor. It used to rule then. Android was still in it's initial progress (beta) stage and nothing could come in the way of iOS. That's when people decided that iPhone is the best smartphone out there and that's what people still think. People don't want to look forward to see what Android and Windows phone have to offer. Especially the old aged people have a concept that iPhone is the only phone with no lags. People let's grow up and see what's around us. At least, give it a try.

Majority of the people carry iPhone to show off but hey that's what it shouldn't be like. We carry phone of our own wish and desire. We don't carry phone to show off to people about how rich we are and what we have. Let's all be economical and chose Smartphone that meets all your requirement! Stay tuned and stay updated!

Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) is out : Will HTC Sensation series and the Samsung Galaxy SII series get the upgrade?

Google's Android is one of those Operating System(O.S.) which frequently updates it's OS. It took many mobile brands like HTC and Samsung 5/6 month to get the ICS update installed in their devices. Some people have not yet got the ICS update. It's not even been 7 months and now Google is coming up with their new Android update, the JellyBean(4.1).

HTC Sensation series and the Samsung Galaxy SII series got the ICS upgrade without an issue but the question is: Will it get the Jelly Bean update and when? People don't like waiting and waiting is all people can do. Both the device are powerful enough but will HTC and Samsung go over and come up with new UI and new update for a year old device once again. Although both the mobiles are very capable, it's hard for me to say that they will surely get the update. Some of these devices have yet not got the ICS update and JellyBean updates are miles away. Even if you get the Android update, don't expect new UI from your one year old devices. Stay tuned and stay updated.

News: PS3 Firmware 4.20-- Is it worth upgrading to ?

Sony's PS3 is one of those gaming consoles which frequently releases update for their PS3 but most of the time it is nothing much dramatic and often patches cracks and hacks. So what do we have in this new PS3 firmware?

If you are one of those having issues with sound and music, it sure is a good news for you.The major change for the firmware is that the "Sidetone" feature has been added and improved for those who use the Wireless Stereo Headset you will now be able to select five levels of microphone audio and also disable Sidetone completely. Virtual sound enhancement has also been added for music lovers.
Leaving audio improvements, now you will be able to set different idle power off time while using media or playing your PS3 game.

If non of these thing interests you, I can warn you all guys not to upgrade your PS3's firmware if you want homebrew and Custom Firmware(CFW) for your PS3 as if may come out any time now. If you update your firmware(FW), you may be stuck in this same firmware like people who upgraded from 3.55 FW did.  If you are a jailbreak guy, have some patience and wait. Enjoy and stay updated.

P.S. : Downgrading is a very hard process and very risky.

Good news for Xbox users by Major Nelson who confirmed on Twitter today that the Xbox 360 dashboard is about ready for download, is rolling out to "a few" users this week, and others will have to wait according to him. He added that presumably “the system updated contains behind the scenes improvements & prep for future enhancements” include many of the new features we saw at E3 last week, but there's still no official word as to when they'll actually roll out.

Some new features are:
  • Users can send media as per their comfort to any tablet or Smartphone to continue watching videos, playing games and more.
  • Have Kinect voice or SmartGlass commands to control your controls
  • Enjoy Xbox Music across Xbox 360 systems, Windows 8 PCs, tablets and Smartphone’s.

Featured: GSMArena VS PhoneArena

Mobile and smartphone freaks always have two websites in their mind whenever a brand new phone pops out in the market. Mobiles aren't just mobile anymore and people now a days like to know about it all and thats what they get. Unsurprisingly, the two phone websites are "gsmarena.com" and "phonearena.com" who are there to tell you all you want to know about... These are two awesome mobile websites which have all kinds of information about the mobiles. If you look closely, you will find that most of the time both the websites have same content which of comes from the same source.

People of course enjoy watching reviews and comparisons when new phone comes out in the market. We love the "VS" between phones but what we have right here is quite different. I am sure only few of us had thought about this before but what I would really like to do here is compare two of the greatest websites which are the best for phone reviews and updates. Both are very good sites but today we will finally know who is better  than the best.
Here, I have comparison between "GSMArena" and "PhoneArena" on different aspects. They are as follows:

1)Updates (How frequent)

Well, both the websites are updated frequently. We can see around 4 updates about different phones in GSMArena and around 10 updates in PhoneArena. The thing is  PhoneArena's updates include both Software and Hardware updates whereas GSMArena's updates are most likely to be hardware(phone) review. If you are looking for only phone update, GSMArena should work best for you. But, like me, if you want to get updated both about hardware and software up-to-date, PhoneArena is the place I would recommend.
1st Round Score:
PhoneArena : 9/10
GSMArena  : 7.5/10

2)Quality Content

Both the websites have quality content but the question is who has better content? Who has all the information people seek for? When it comes to quality content, both the sites are almost equally good. The major difference is that,GSMArena only posts important and top news. If you want to know about notable updates and are busy,GSMArena.com is the one you should go after. The thing with PhoneArena is that it has all kinds of news which are kind of mixed up and at times you miss the news you were looking for. By now a days, PhoneArena has featured section which is quite impressive as well but isn't much noticed. So, in this case GSMArena has the upper hand. GSMArena has some clean sections from where you can pick news easily and get the content you are really after.
2nd Round Score:
PhoneArena : 7/10
GSMArena  : 8/10

3)Phone Reviews
Both the sites take 2/3days to bring out a worth while review of a new phone which is just out in the market. It's understandable why it takes time for the websites to come up with the review. They look at all the aspects before jumping to conclusions. As far as the statistics are concerned, GSMArena releases its review earlier than PhoneArena. The review in both the websites are considerably good but GSMArena has upper hand here as well. Why GSMArena is better in review is that it has many tabs (battery, display, camera,UI,misc, etc) on which the review is based. On the first page, its important features are mentioned and  main disadvantages are mentioned as well. PhoneArena's reviews aren't that much detailed.
3rd Round Score:
PhoneArena : 8/10
GSMArena  : 8.5/10

4) Phone Battles
Reviews are not just enough for customers to decide which phone is best for them. To make things easier, both the websites have "VS" battle between phones as their first page stuff. Surprisingly, PhoneArena takes up a clear lead in this section because looking at the current situation, PhoneArena has more than 5 new "VS" posts between phones whereas GSMArena has only one. The battle between phones are equally good on both the websites and cannot be compared. But PhoneArena keeps it's things a bit clearer in here. So, PhoneArena wins here. It's 360 degree view in the first page of the battle is impressive as well.
4th Round Score:
PhoneArena : 9/10
GSMArena  : 8/10

5) Ads and Disturbances
Well, we don't have pop-out ads in neither GSMArena.com nor PhoneArena.com but PhoneArena is a bit cleaner. To be honest, it doesn't have Ads in it's website at all. While some people like Ads being displayed on the sides of the page, most of them don't. The Ads also effect the load time of the website and aren't basically appreciated. PhoneArena has clean win in here.
5th Round Score:
PhoneArena :10/10
GSMArena  : 8/10

6) Website load up time
Time section may not bother to people having high speed internet but really bothers people having slow internet. Not every country has internet service very well. So, when both the sites were simultaneously opened using the same browser and same internet (ADSL), I found out GSMArena takes 7 seconds to load everything whereas PhoneArena took almost double the time (13 seconds) to load every thing up. It is a huge different but also keep that in mind that PhoneArena loads up a lot of content in its home page. Still, GSMArena wins up here.
6th Round Score:
PhoneArena :7/10
GSMArena  :8.5/10

7) Mobile Webpage Interface

Well, GSMArena and PhoneArena are the sites which has quality content about mobiles. Now, let's have a look how their site appear when run on a smartphone. GSMArena is heavily customized for phone and is very simple and easy to use. It is mainly optimized for touchscreen phones. PhoneArena was good as well. Pages loaded very fast and we didn't experience choppiness or lagginess in both the phones. But GSMArena has better web experience which used on a smartphone.
7th Round Score:
PhoneArena :8/10
GSMArena  :9/10

Conclusion
Well, it's time to decide a winner. Both the websites who judged others are today being judged. Who is going down, let's find out. One of them are going to lose but that doesn't mean that one is superior than the other. If you have time, I recommend you to browse through both "gsmarena.com" and "phonearena.com". By adding up the score of both the websites, we have come to the conclusion that PhoneArena is slightly better than GSMArena. Hats off to PhoneArena for its victory and hope GSMArena catches up in the upcoming days!
Final Score:
PhoneArena :58/70
GSMArena  :57.5/10

The History of Android (OS)

For people who don't know about the superior Smartphone OS(Operating System), I have got a story to tell. Even for those who know what android is, you will be surprised to know that Android was not founded somewhere about now. In fact, Android was founded 9 years ago in October, 2003 A.D. Although, for some years Android operating system was in its pre-beta and began with the release of the Android beta in November 2007. The first commercial version, Android 1.0, was released in September 2008. Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google.

To your surprise, it(Android) didn't make its way so easily in the market as it may seem to you all. It was very difficult for them to get established as the mobile market as getting bigger and better at the same time. Some of the top mobile OS manufacturers such as Apple's iOS and Nokia's Symbian OS were rolling their updates now and then. But then slowly, Android came in the market with its first ever Android OS running "HTC Dream" featuring Android 1.0. To be honest, it wasn't such a hit as Google had expected it to be. The key feature of Android 1.0 was as follows:
  • Integration with Google Services
  • Web Browser with zoom feature (supported full HTML XHTML)
  • Android market and updates
  • Multi-Tasking,Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Then, came the Android 1.5 (Cupcake) which had Linux as its kernal. (After that Google named its OS updates with name of desserts and sweets.)This version of Android was appreciated a lot and was kept for further improvements as well. The cupcake was a major improvement and was highlighted. The main features of Android 1.5 or let's say cupcake were as follows :

  • Faster camera start-up and Image capture
  • Much faster GPS with loaded content quickly
  • On-Screen Keyboard
  • Capability to directly upload Videos to Youtube and Picassa
  • Support for Widgets
  • Copy and Paste feature added in the web browser

Well then, the sweet cupcake time was over when Google rolled up the update and name its newer version of OS as Android Donut (1.6) . The update was rolled out on September 15, 2009. The new Android was a lot faster and supported many applications. This was a major improvement by Android and included a lot of new features with attracted a lot of costumers. Some of its key feature were :

  • Voice search and Search box were added
  • Multilingual text-to-speech function
  • Galley, Camcorder and Camera were fully integrated
  • Battery usage indicator
  • CDMA support
  • Support for WVGA screens
  • Faster OS boot times and fast web browsing experience

Soon enough, Google realized that the updates weren't enough. So, they came up with their brand new Android Eclair(2.0/2.1) OS. Now, that Android was on highlight, mobile manufactures as well thought of having this OS on their mobile straight away. And, that's what happened. HTC, Motorola, LG, Sony Ericsson, etc kept Android as their mobile's OS. Then, the era of Android finally begun. The Android as on market and people started liking it. Even people who used other OS couldn't ignore Android. Some of the main features of Android 2.1 were as follows:

  • Bluetooth 2.1 Support
  • Multiple Account for E-Mail  and Synchronization
  • Numerous new camera features including support for flash
  • New Browser interface with support for HTML 5
  • Mircrosoft Exchange support for syncing of E-Mail
  • New Calender features
  • Support for more screen sizes and resolutions
  • Improved Google Maps (3.1.2)

Again, Google didn't want to stop from progressing because it knew there were more features to be added and more to do and more to make the customers happy. Then, they came up with the new version of Android 2.2 (Froyo). The Google Nexus One was the first smartphone to run on Android 2.2. There was a overall improvement in this update and people were quite satisfied. Some of the major improvements were:
  • USB tethering and Wi-Fi Hotspot functionality
  • Support for Adobe Flash 10.1
  • Faster performance with less lags and unnoticeable bugs
  • Improved Exchange Support
  • Multiple Keyboard Languages
  • Improved Application launcher with better browser
  • Support for Extra PPI screen support(320ppi)

Then, came in the revolutionary Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which is still the major version on which most of the smartphones are running. This the the version which almost took down almost all the other OS including the iOS and the Symbian. It was then a complete OS and people were proud to own a Gingerbread running Smartphone. Google Nexus S was the first smartphone to run in this OS and proved itself worthy enough. Some of the major improvements were as follows :
  • Updated User Interface with high efficiency and speed
  • Multiple homescreens with widgets
  • New download Manager which let download apps and E-Mail content
  • Near Field Communication (NFC)
  • Internet calling
  • One touch word selection and Copy/Paste
  • New keyboard for faster word input
  • Native support for sensors such as Gyrosensors and Proximity Sensor
  • Audio and Graphical Improvements

Well, the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) was for smart phones and the tablet manufacturer were pretty disappointed. So, Google who aimed to please everyone came up with their new OS which was specifically designed for tables(only tablets). So, they named their new version of Android as Android 3.0(Honeycomb). The first tablet to run in this version of OS was Motorola Xoom. Some of the main features of Android 3.0 were as follows:
  • Optimized for tablets with huge screens
  • Bluetooth Tethering
  • Redefined multitasking, rich notification and enhanced widgets
  • Built in Media Transfer Protocol
  • Quick access to camera features including zooming and using flash
  • Re-sizable homescreen Widgets
  • Hardware Acceleration
  • Support for multi-core processors
  • Support for joystick and gamepads
  • Multi-Browser tabs
  • Ability to encrypt all user data
The most recent and most powerful update rolled out by Google is Android 4.0 (Ice-Cream Sandwich) on which only a few phones run right now including the HTC ONE X and the Samsung Galaxy S3. The new Android comes up with a lot of new features including the Face Unlock feature. The first phone to run on Android 4.0 was the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Some of its main features are:
  • Face Unlock feature
  • Support for multi-core processor
  • Google Chrome Beta
  • New tabbed web browser with support upto 16 tabs
  • Virtual button in the UI
  • Integrated Screenshot capture
  • Wi-Fi Direct
  • 1080p Video support for stock Android Devices
  • Android Bean (NFC Feature)
  • New gallery layout which is much faster and snappier
That's all about the Android OS History. Stay tuned and stay updated!
