Nokia MeeGo In-Car Information System

A few weeks ago, the GENIVI Alliance decided to use Nokia’s MeeGo as their in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) platform. Now there’s a prototype of a MeeGo IVI system, which is currently broadcasting on YouTube.

The MeeGo powered system is a full-functioning Linux system with a scrolling touch-interface built on the Xfce4 environment, complete with a shell terminal and file manager. The system is also running Mozilla’s Fennec browser, displaying navigation maps, and playing media.  While this is only a prototype, the future looks bright for in-car computing.
