iPad Mini which was criticized badly at it's launch for its low resolution screen and for using last year's specification might not be as bad as you think. To be honest, it is the best 7 inch (though iPad Mini is 7.9") available right now. You may be thinking I have forgot about its main competitor, the Nexus 7 which is much more powerful than the iPad Mini. But that is not the case. Nexus 7 sure has better specification on paper but that advantage is not seen while using the tablet itself. The raw processing power of Nexus 7 while comparing the power of iPad Mini is honestly negligible. Although iPad Mini has a dual-core 1GHz A5 processor with only 512MB of RAM, it is just as fast as Nexus 7 which uses nVidia Tegra 3 Quad-Core Processor clocked at 1.3GHz and 1GB of RAM. You can see the comparison yourself in the Youtube Videos (you will find many). The only place where iPad remains behind is the low screen resolution and less ppi.
Yes, iPad Mini is much more better than Nexus 7 but you will have to keep in mind that it also costs way more. The iPad Mini has better construction with better material and is more stronger than Nexus 7. iPad Mini had survived the drop test(if not fully) but Nexus 7 was in such a condition that it couldn't be used at all after the drop test performed by Android Authority. One more reason for you to chose iPad Mini is that it has a 5MP rear camera capable of 1080p HD Video recording. That sure is a wow factor for many of us. The other thing is that iPad Mini is more tablet optimized than Nexus 7. iPad Mini is slimmer and lighter. iPad Mini, thus is the best 7 inch tablet so far.
iPad Mini is better than Nexus 7, no doubt about that. But you should also consider the price difference. If you are looking for a great tablet and don't care about the budget, iPad Mini is the one for you. If you are looking for a budget Tablet, nothing can be better than Nexus 7.
